System Administration & Customization Tools
If your IT department is a busy place and you’d like to be able to handle some of the basics required to administer and customize your Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) system on your own, then this course is for you. OR, if you are a member of a busy IT department, administering multiple systems, but you’ve never actually been trained on the administration of Dynamics GP and the use of the customization tools (namely Extender and SmartList builder), then this course is for you, too. System Administration It pays to learn the basics and to set up the system so that it works right without too much additional effort or maintenance on your part. This course will walk you through some of the simple procedures that you can put in place to avoid system errors and crashes, stuck batches and other bumps in the road that create nothing but headaches. Think of this class as a bottle of prevention. And when there is an issue, the skills you’ve learned in this class will be more valuable than a bottle of aspirin. We’ll cover:
• Using System Manager – navigation, set up, file maintenance, routines and utilities • Quick Fixes – stuck batches, printing problems, common bumps in the road • Back-ups, Maintenance, Capacity and More • Resources Available through CustomerSource
Customization Tools Extender and SmartList Builder are add-on modules that allow you to adapt Great Plains to the way you do business at your company. Instead of adapting your business processes to your software, you can use these two customization tools to make the software work optimally for you. These modules can be implemented quickly to provide integrated, customized reporting in the formats you prefer. Here are the course highlights:
• Extender Overview - Modify windows (transactions, inquiries), link additional windows, expand notes and macros, launch ad hoc queries, create database views and dialog boxes, import data into Extender field • SmartList Builder Overview - Create your own SmartLists and SmartList objects, query more data and manipulate it in real time, link additional tables, add calculated fields
